There are a variety of woods. These different types of wood are the foundation for wooden furniture. The wooden furniture in various categories is made from several types of wood.

The types of wood determine the quality of furniture.

Most of the types of wood species are made of 60% cellulose and 28% lignin. These types of wood are held together by the cementing properties o of 60% cellulose and 28% lignin.

The types of wood are very different from each other. They decide the type of furniture and the method.

The various types of wood are:

• Hardwood:  Deciduous trees are the source of hardwood. This type of wood is obtained from the trees that bear fruit and go dry in the winter months. Some of these types of wood are obtained from oak, ash, cherry, maple etc. However, these cannot withstand weathering.
• Mahogany: These types of wood are reddish brown in color. It is one of the best types of wood as it lends itself to all types of work and withstands weathering.
• Walnut: These types of wood are hardwood variety. They are used extensively in all wooden furniture.
• Oak: This type of wood is unique. Oak combines the best of all woods. It is the best wood to make furniture.
• Maple: Maple is very hard. It is very stable. It is good for furniture.
• Cherry: Cherry is close-grained. It is very strong and resists weathering.
• Rosewood: Rosewood is hard-wood. It is dark brown and has a great look to it. It is resistant.
• Teak: Teak is resistant towards termite and does not get affected by moisture. It is used widely.
• Shesham: This wood is brilliant in its color and texture. It is used to make indoor furniture.
